AT&T Donates 100 Laptops

AT&T and Human I-T provided the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley with 100 refurbished laptops today to distribute to Columbus youth and their families. 


The computers, funded by an AT&T contribution, were given to youth with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley to help close the digital divide in the Columbus community.


“At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chattahoochee Valley, we are committed to ensuring that our youth have the resources and support they need to thrive. AT&T’s donation of laptops is helping us achieve that goal by equipping our youth with access to technology and digital resources that will help our youth succeed in today’s digital world,” said Rodney Close, CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley. “Together, we are creating pathways to success for Columbus youth and helping them reach their full potential.”


“AT&T is proud to collaborate with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley to provide technology and resources to Columbus youth. By equipping students with laptops, we are helping close the digital divide and opening the door to new opportunities for Atlanta youth,” said Colin Martin, Regional Director of External Affairs, AT&T Georgia. “Together, we are connecting more Georgians to greater possibility.”


This effort is part of the AT&T Connected Learning® initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.

44th Annual Upatoi Polo Cup

Mark your calendars for the 44th Annual Polo Cup - September 22nd, 2024! The Upatoi Polo Cup is a family-oriented event designed to help raise funds for programs that benefit over 2,500 children participating in our local Boys & Girls Clubs annually. Guests enjoy an afternoon of exciting polo matches, brunch foods, live music, a half-time show, and children's activities.


We have a lot of new things in store for you this year including the Little CHEF - Big CHEF Brunch Competition, showcasing BGCCV's Workforce Development efforts. Club kids will team up with professional chefs to experience life in a professional kitchen, mentorship in culinary skills, and showcase their culinary creations at the event. Stay tuned for more information introducing the local 'Big Chefs' and 'Little Chefs' you'll have the exciting opportunity to meet at the event!

11th Anniversary Youth of the Year

2022 CITYWIDE TEEN LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

On July 21-22, 2022, 200+ teens and their advisors gathered at The Columbus Trade Center to discuss pressing issues in the Chattahoochee Valley region and the country at large. While together, they had the opportunity to experience workshops and explore many issues that teens face in their daily lives. They attended thought-provoking workshops from exciting subject-matter experts, enjoyed engaging sessions that addressed critical teen issues, and participated in hands-on and service-learning experiences. Teens and advisors had the opportunity to attend sessions that encouraged inclusion, targeted their passions, and showed them how to take community to the next level. The Summit featured interactive, high-energy experiences in the areas of academic success, career exploration, and healthy lifestyles, while inspiring teens to amplify their voices. The Summit concluded on Friday, July 22nd at THE Club-Teen Center with a #WeOWNFriday Teen Mixer. The Teen Leadership Summit was made possible by Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley's partnership with the Georgia Governor's Emergency Education Relief Fund I & Georgia Department of Education.

JOHN F. FLOURNOY COLLEGE & CAREER CENTER GROUND BREAKING

BGCCV broke ground on a 6,800 square foot Teen Center on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at the North Columbus Club. The John F. Flournoy College & Career Center will serve youth ages 13-18 who need access to quality academic success, healthy lifestyles, and character & leadership development opportunities. This project is the culmination of the $10.6 million Great Futures Capital Campaign which has completed several projects including but not limited to the purchase of the Edgewood School and relocation of the East Columbus Boys & Girls Club, renovation of the J. Barnett Woodruff Boys & Girls Club, refreshing the technology across all of the organization’s sites, and updating the vehicle fleet.

EAST COLUMBUS CLUB GARDEN REVEAL

Special thanks to our partners Humana, and Keith Sims for helping our East Columbus Boys & Girls Club members create a beautiful garden veggie. Our members learned valuable life skills, gardening techniques, and had a great time working together.
